Title
Post Medieval powder flask cap (top, profile and base)
Description
English: The object is a spacer for a strap end. The frame is made from cast copper alloy. The frame has an oval frame with two integral arms protruding from one exterior edge. These arms taper towards each other to almost meet at the oval frame. One arm is shorter than the other, but they both appear to be incomplete. This damage is not too recent. The frame and arms are all rectangular in section. The upper and lower surface of the spacer is flat. The surface is a light grey colour. It measures 38.09mm long, 20.15mm wide and 1.83mm thick. It weighs 3g. Egan and Pritchard (2002 Dress Accessories Boydell Press) illustrate a similar shaped spacer, No. 650 which dates to the second half of the 14th century.
