Title
Post-Medieval spur
Description
English:

An incomplete cast copper-alloy spur of Post-Medieval date. It is missing its terminals, rowel and most of one side due to old breaks. The sides are D-shaped in section and taper from the thicker centre of the object towards the missing terminals. At the centre of the outer face is an integrally cast rowel box formed from two arms (now pressed together due to post-depositional damage) with rounded terminals that have central circular apertures and moulded vertical collars. The undecorated neck joining the rowel box to the sides of the spur is oval shaped in section. This spur measures 54.91mm in current (bent) width, 76.82mm in current (bent) length, 10.16mm in maximum height, 4.28mm in thickness, the rowel box measures 8.09mm in width, 6.38mm in thickness and 18.72mm in length, the entire object weighs 21.18g.

This is an incomplete rowl spur of Post-Medieval date similar to examples recorded through the PAS (e.g. SF-3329A8, SF-F26354 and ESS-60B064) and by Margeson (1993: nos. 1799-1800). It probably dates to between the 17th and 18th centuries AD, c.1600-1800 AD.
