View of the temporary Post Intelligencer newspaper headquarters at the home of Leigh and Lizzie Hunt on 4th Avenue and Columbia. The actual Post Intelligencer offices burned down the previous day during the Great Fire of 1889. It seems very unlikely that this rather calm photo was taken June 6, the day of the fire, even if that is the date attributed by Seattle Public Library. Most likely it was taken some time shortly after. |
