Title
Possible Post-Medieval Ferrule fragment from East Cowick
Description
English: Copper alloy

Possible Ferrule fragment. Cast fragment of a tapered and probably hexagonal section object, of circa 30mm original diameter. An in-kick at the base suggests this object to have been the upper part of an angular terminal; a drilled hole of diameter 2.8mm was presumably for attachment to wood, in the case of a ferrule, or leather, were an alternative identification as a scabbard chape to be entertained. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1500-1700.

Height: 26.1mm, Width: 28.7mm, Thickness: 1.7mm, Weight: 9.61gms.
