Statuette en plâtre patiné, ronde-bosse sur base de section circulaire.

Marques, inscriptions, poinçons: Signature de l'exécutant - Sur la base, à l'arrière, gravé dans le plâtre : THEODORE RIVIERE".

Inscription concernant le modèle - Sous la base, au crayon : "Pottier".

Description iconographique:

Edouard Pottier. Homme, en pied, uniforme d'amiral, ordre de la Légion d'honneur, sabre, bicorne. Marine militaire. Commentaire historique:

Un autre exemplaire en plâtre est conservé au musée d'Orsay (AF 3754). Une statue en bronze fut érigée à Rochefort-sur-Mer en 1907 et fut détruite sous l'occupation. Le modèle en plâtre de ce monument fut présenté au Salon des Artistes Français de 1907 (N°3407), érigé à Fouras, puis frappé par la foudre en 1914.
