Door-handles. Not a single wooden door has been preserved in Pompeii. Thepanelling of that which we give, as restored by Mazois, istaken from a marble door in the Street of Tombs, togetherwith the ring which served as a handle. Almost all the door-ways in Pompeii are nearly of the same size and form, a littlemore or less care in the execution of capitals and entablatures 266 POMPEII.
