Description

Plaza de la Villa

La Casa de la Villa es el edificio que más destaca en la plaza y también es el edificio de construcción más reciente. Su construcción se inició alrededor del año 1645 y finalizó en el año 1693. El proyecto arquitectónico estuvo a cargo de Juan Gómez de Mora. Fue la sede del Ayuntamiento de Madrid entre los años 1693 y 2007, es decir, durante más de 300 años. En el año 2007 la Alcaldía de Madrid se reubicó en el Palacio de Comunicaciones. Desde entonces, en la Casa de la Villa solamente tienen lugar actos oficiales y el Pleno Municipal.
