Description
Español: Conocida como La plaza Sucre o La plaza Milla. Ubicada en la parte alta del casco urbano de la ciudad, en la parroquia del mismo nombre, es una de las más antiguas. A partir de 1895 la plaza está dedicada a la memoria del héroe Antonio José de Sucre; el Gran Mariscal de Ayacucho, con motivo del centenario de su nacimiento, de allí que su nombre oficial es el de Plaza Gran Mariscal de Ayacucho Antonio José de Sucre. En el centro de la plaza se encuentra una estatua pedestre de Sucre en mármol blanco, erigida en 1949. Mérida. Venezuela.
English: Known as the Plaza Sucre o La plaza Milla. Located in the upper village of the town, in the parish of the same name, is one of the oldest. Since 1895, the square is dedicated to the memory of the hero Antonio José de Sucre; the Gran Mariscal de Ayacucho, on the centenary of his birth, hence its official name is the Plaza Gran Mariscal de Ayacucho Antonio José de Sucre. In the center of the square stands a statue pedestrian of Sucre in white marble, built in 1949. Mérida. Venezuela.
