Description
English: A plate engraved for the Macklin Bible after a specially-commissioned painting by Philippe Jacques De Loutherbourg. Photographed from the Bowyer Bible, Bolton, England. Bowyer Bible 45.6307. The Vision of the White Horse. An archer in crown riding a white horse in clouds, aiming to right, followed by another rider raising sword behind at left (Revelations 19:11-12). 1800. Inscriptions: Lettered below image with title, bible reference, production detail: "P. J. De Loutherbourg Esq. R.A. pinxt.", "John Landseer sculpt." and publication line: "London, Publish'd Octr. 20th. 1800, by Thos. Macklin, Fleet Street". Print made by John Landseer. Dimensions: Height: 485 millimetres; width: 396 millimetres.
