Summary[edit]

Description Photo illustrating the smokers' lounge of the Pioneer Zephyr, or the buffet grill, which was located in the baggage car of the train. The door seen in the back of the photo was the way to the buffet grill, which was also in the baggage car. The flyer says the smokers' lounge had "reclining chairs done in fine leather in harmony with the soft tans of the walls and ceiling".
Date No date is shown on the brochure. This would need to be circa 1934 as it would be the last year of the Chicago World's Fair and the year the Pioneer Zephyr made its debut. Since die-cut items have always been expensive to produce, it would seem to be correct in that it was distributed as a 1934 World's Fair handout. Don't think the railroad continued producing these after the Fair because of the expense involved, and that it would have been warranted to make a good showing at the fair.
