La place Navona

La forme allongée de la piazza Navona (la place Navona a 275 m de long) vient de celle du stade antique construit par l'Empereur Domitien aux environs de l'an 85 qu'elle occupe aujourd'hui.

Son apparence actuelle date du XVIIème siècle sous le Pontificat d'Innocent X durant lequel elle a été aménagée avec des églises et des palais et décorée par trois fontaines (dessinées par Bernin) devenues célèbres
