| Description |
English: Fleshy сone of Phyllocladus aspleniifolius, Pine Lake Walk, Tasmania. Phyllocladus is a relic coniferous tree from the family Podocarpaceae, endemic to Tasmania. Its unique feature is the reduction of leaves, the function of which was taken over by flattened twigs, called phyllocladia. The red scales of the cones attract birds, and the white fleshy arillus appendages serve as food for them. This assists the plant in dispersing its seeds. Українська: Соковита шишка філокладуса аспленієлистого (Phyllocladus aspleniifolius), екологічний маршрут Пайн Лейк (Pine Lake Walk), о. Тасманія. Філокладус − реліктове хвойне дерево з родини Подокарпові (Podocarpaceae), ендем Тасманії. Його унікальна особливість − редукція листків, функцію яких прийняли на себе сплощені гілочки, філокладії. Червоні луски шишок приваблюють птахів, а білі м’ясисті придатки-арилюси слугують для них їжею. Це допомагає рослині поширювати насіння. |
