Description

Medium: paper; photo-emulsion

Description: After the introduction of Parcel Post Service on January 1, 1913, the Post Office Department began a series of instructional photographs and stories on the proper methods of wrapping a package for mailing. This photograph, numbered 178, is part of a series of photographs produced and distributed by the Department. The photograph shows that improperly wrapped packages might not make it through the postal system without sustaining damage or requiring special handling in the Department's Dead Letter Office.
