Summary[edit]

Description

Pholiota velaglutinosa A.H. Sm. & Hesler

Image location: Point Reyes National Seashore, Marin Co., California, USA

Growing on wood chips, mostly likely of Bishop pine. Caps up to 5.5 cm across surface and slightly tacky. In young fbs, the veil is like a thin solid film, with much of it remaining on the cap edge. Got a weak spore print, brownish. Spores ~ 6.8-8.1 X 5.1-6.1 microns, ellipsoid, smooth and appearing not to have a germ pore. Gill cystidia present, mostly utriform but most with a subtle double neck. They don’t look familiar to me(?).

Recognized by sight
