Baucis probeert de vluchtende gans te pakken om hem te kunnen slachten, waarna Mercurius zijn identiteit aan haar onthult. Vervaardiging Vervaardiger: prentmaker: anoniem, naar prent van: Cornelis Galle (I), naar schilderij van: Jan van den Hoeckeuitgever: Crispijn van de Passe (II) (toegeschreven aan) Datering: ca. 1636 - 1670 Fysieke kenmerken: gravure; proefdruk Materiaal: papier Techniek: graveren (drukprocedé) Afmetingen: plaatrand: h 181 mm × b 230 mm Toelichting Het schilderij van Van den Hoecke bevindt zich in de collectie van de Národní galerie te Praag. Deze incomplete serie, bestaande uit 77 van de in totaal 85 prenten met scènes uit Ovidius' Metamorfosen, werd in 1709 samen met Ovidius-illustraties van Tempesta, Goltzius en Le Pautre in één album, Schijnvoet nummer 43, ingebonden. In de negentiende eeuw werd deze band weer uit elkaar gehaald.
