Summary[edit]

Description
English: This figure depicts the ratio of the actual period (oscillation period) of a pendulum versus the period given by the small-angle approximation method. The abscissa is the angular amplitude θ₀ of the pendulum, while the ordinate is the ratio T/T₀.

The ratio for some special angles, e.g. 30°, 45°, 60° and 90° were labeled. Derivations can be found in Pendulum (mathematics). This figure is created using Mathematica(R) version 8.0, using the following codes:

  plot = Plot[{2/π f[x π/180], 1}, {x, 0, 90}, Filling -> {1 -> {2} },
  AxesOrigin -> {0, 0.99}, PlotRange -> {0.99, 1.21},
  PlotLabel -> Style["Ratio of the Two Periods", Italic, 20],
  AspectRatio -> 0.47];
  Show[plot, GridLines -> {Range[0, 90, 10], Range[1.00, 1.20, 0.05]},
  FrameLabel -> {Style["Angular Amplitude θ0", 12, Italic],
  Style["T/T0", 12, Italic]}, Frame -> True]
Then I manually added the dashed lines and labels, and then saved the graphics in vector graphics.
