Sent : Wednesday, July 22, 2015 5:48 PM Subject : Penshurst Road N17. Residential Waste Bins overflowing, stinking & being used by local businesses

I assume you are aware of this problem. I reported it via Fix My Street website at 16:44 today, 22 July 2015.     Walking past, I saw and smelled the row of waste bins at the northern end of Penshurst Road N17. They were overflowing as well as stinking. Some rubbish had fallen on the pavement.     I am told these bins serve nearby flats owned by Homes for Haringey and that waste collection is by Veolia, Haringey Council's waste management contractors.     The bin area faces the street with no barrier to prevent public use. I'm told that as a result, on a regular basis - sometimes daily - the bins are used not only by Homes for Haringey residents but by other people who may be traders nearby, or residents from other addresses. And that as a result the bins are quickly full and sometimes overflow onto the street.     It seems to me that there are several possible approaches some of which you may have tried to initiate. This includes re-locating the bins to where they are not publicly and easily available; and using cameras to see who - other than residents in this street - is dumping their waste as suspected. If they are local traders, residents from elsewhere, or perhaps commercial fly-tippers, appropriate action could be taken.     I am sure you will be aware of this problem and I would appreciate if you could let me know what action you and Haringey/Homes for Haringey are taking to tackle it.     I have posted this and another photo full-size on my Flickr photoblog here.
