Peniophora pithya (Pers.) Erikss.

Image location: Highbanks Metro Park, Lewis Center, Ohio, USA

Growing on an Acer sacchariferum stick with Tremella mesenterica observation 304271. Heavily encrusted, inamyloid, hyaline, non-septate, metuloid cystidia abundant. Cystidia measured (5 of them) 7.4 to 9.6 µm wide. At least some hyphae brown, thick-walled and profusely branched. Gloeocystidia and dendrohyphidia absent. Spores smooth and inamyloid. Spore measurements from Piximetre: (5.7) 5.9 – 7.4 (7.6) × (2.3) 2.6 – 3.3 (3.4) µm, Q = (2) 2.1 – 2.5 (2.6); N = 18, Me = 6.8 × 2.9 µm; Qe = 2.3 Individual spores: 7.62 × 3.09 µm, 7.20 × 2.79 µm, 7.61 × 3.32 µm, 5.66 × 2.61 µm, 6.77 × 3.10 µm, 6.35 × 2.76 µm, 6.95 × 3.27 µm, 6.64 × 3.03 µm, 5.91 × 2.32 µm, 5.89 × 2.56 µm, 6.72 × 2.64 µm, 6.62 × 2.65 µm, 7.28 × 3.39 µm, 7.43 × 3.07 µm, 7.24 × 2.84 µm, 6.37 × 3.18 µm, 7.03 × 3.01 µm, 6.60 × 2.87 µm
