Description
English: Pelton Turbine is an impulse type Water Turbine developed in 1880 by Lester A. Pelton. It is used in Hydro electric Power plants to convert (1) the potential energy of water head to kinetic energy (2) the kinetic energy of flowing water to mechanical energy (3) mechanical energy to electrical energy. More the volume of water and more the head of water, more is the power produced. Hydropower can be defined as a source of renewable energy obtained from flowing water, and is one of the most reliable, technically exploitable, and environmentally friendly renewable energy alternative.
