| Description | Passenger concourse of the ferry terminal on Miyajimacho Island- the Itsukushima shrine is 15 min away on foot. The ferry terminal had the look of a small airport or bus station. Not finding hot coffee on offer, I picked up a couple of cans of cold coffee from a vending machine just outside the terminal. After enjoying them, I found myself walking all around the island looking for a trash can! Yes, there are no trash cans on Miyajimacho Island- a friendly local lady told me yes, there are no trash cans here, you will fave to carry those cans around. Thanks, that was a big help! And bloody inconvenient especially if you have to visit a temple and take pictures alternately with your dSLR and your iPhone. After struggling for several minutes, I eventually spotted a pile of rubbish in a remote corner of the beach- probably collected there by a janitor- and left my cans there. But I digress- let's move on now to the Itsukushima shrine, a good 15 minutes away from here on foot. (Hiroshima,Japan, Apr/ May 2019) |
