Foi criado em 1985 através de Decreto Federal, com uma área de 152 000 ha na região da Chapada Diamantina, distribuídos pelos municípios de Andaraí, Ibicoara, Itaetê, Lençóis, Mucugê e Palmeiras. Localiza-se entre as coordenadas geográficas 41º35’-41º15’ de Longitude Oeste e 12º25’-13º20’ de Latitude Sul. O turismo ecológico consciente dá à Chapada as melhores características de um pólo de lazer que preserva a natureza. (Wikipédia) |
