Summary[edit]

Description
English: The Gangotena Palace, also called Casa Gangotena is a palatial building in the center of the Historic Center of Quito. Renovation work was under the direction of architect Pedro Jaramillo, who led a team of nearly 300 people who took pains to keep the original elements of the palace such as numerous inlaid floors and decorative plasterwork. Some changes were built in to suit the functions for a five star hotel. These additions included, among others, bathrooms white marble in every room (originally there were only two), noise -proof windows, elevators, central air conditioning. The structure had a type of rooms structured around a walkway that ran the palace in almost its entire length that facilitated its adaptation to a hotel scheme without major changes.

The Historic Center of Quito is the best-preserved, least altered historic center in Latin America. In Spanish, (El Centro Histórico de Quito) was constructed on what was once a 16th century Inca city at 2,850 meters above sea level in the Andes Mountains near the Equator.
