| Description |
English: Class 47/5 after arrival at Paddington, 1991. In the comparative gloom of the Arrival side of Paddington Station, a brightly coloured 47.579 has arrived at Platform 9 on an express. This locomotive was named 'James Nightall, G.C.' (the driver who lost his life in the munitions-train explosion at Soham in June 1944), later it became 'Christopher Wren'. It was built in 10/64 and after several modifications and re-numberings during its working life, it survived withdrawal by BR and is preserved, currently on the Mid-Norfolk Railway. [I believe?] |
