Summary

[edit]
Description
English: PTFE (polytetrafluorethylene) is a fully fluorinated polymer and is known as Teflon® by the company DuPont.

PTFE, in contrast to other fluoric plastics, cannot be processed like conventional thermo-plastics (e.g. extruding, injection molding, etc.). Work pieces made of PTFE are, for example, pressed out of PTFE-powder under high pressure and sintered afterwards.

PTFE-coatings are often applied with wet-varnish-procedures onto the work pieces. Therefore PTFE-particles in dispersion (e.g. with according carrier resins) are sprayed onto the work piece and dried afterwards.
