Summary

[edit]
Description

I used VT100s while at SDL (see next photo). I never used a PDP-8 but remember seeing one stuck on a rack outside the lift while at SDL’s Camberley Offices.

The main project I worked on at SDL was for Racal SMS (formerly Decca / Racal-Decca Marine I think) on ship simulation systems. (I became an expert on Admiralty charts and buoys) We were using Kongsberg KS-500 computers but we just had a VAX-750 delivered and I got to use VMS and write some interface code in Coral-66 .

Later I had a MicroVAX by the side of my desk at one point when I worked at Daisy, We ran some design software on the machine (Logician-VX?) and actually sold a MicroVAX with our software to DEC in Ireland.

We had the PO pinned to the wall :-) .
