Summary[edit]

Description A U.S. Navy Lockheed P-3A-50-LO Orion (BuNo 152152) from Patrol Squadron VP-46 at Naval Air Station Moffett Field, in 1965. The P-3A 152152 was delivered to the U.S. Navy in 1965, and served initially with VP-46, deploying with the squadron to Naval Air Facility Naha, Okinawa and flying coastal surveillance of Vietnam as part of "Operation Market Time". Later in the Vietnam War, it joined VP-6 operating from Naval Air Station Cubi Point, Philippine Islands. Following this tour, the aircraft joined VP-17 based at NAS Barbers Point, Hawaii (USA), during which time the squadron's operations took it to Vietnamese waters for further Market Time flights and also a detachment at NAS Adak, Alaska (USA). Its final assignment was with VP-69, a Naval Air Reserve squadron based at NAS Whidbey Island, Washington (USA). When flown to the National Museum of Naval Aviation at Pensacola, Florida (USA), it was the last P-3A to serve in VP-69.
