| Description |
English: As seen on a frigid February 2022 evening, a swinging bench makes for a pleasant resting spot (in warmer weather, anyway) overlooking the Susquehanna River at Ahwaga Park in Owego, New York. Ahwaga is the smaller of the two riverfront parks that bookend the Owego Riverwalk, both of which were established in 1926 under the initiative of village president Charles D. Marvin to mark the sesquicentennial of the Declaration of Independence. It takes its name from an Iroquois word meaning "where the valley widens", from which the place name Owego is also derived. |
