Description
Nederlands: Verzet Nederland. De brandende fakkel verbeeldt het verzetsvuur. De lauwerkrans is een teken van rouw.
English: Typical monument commemorating victims of the German occupation of the Netherlands. The burning torch represents the fire of resistance while the wreath is a sign of mourning. This monument, at the Ouwsterhaule cemetery in Friesland commemorates Jetze Veldstra, a local farmer, who was arrested in 1943 for possessing a radio transmitter[1] and who died at Neuengamme on 17.1.1945. The text on the monument is in the Frisian language.
