| Description |
English: Outfall near Solent Breezes This outfall pipe runs from the end of Workman's Lane out into the Solent, 600 meters from the strand line, and out beyond the mean low water mark. It is shown on the 1:25000 Explorer Map 119. You can see where the pipe crosses the mean low water mark on the 1:50000 map by looking for the small spit that has built up, extending the shore South by 20 metres or so. Other outfall pipes in this area are much shorter than this one, suggesting that at one time it might have been used for disposing of untreated sewage. Note the cormorant on the marker post and the liner making a turn into the deep water channel of Southampton Water. |
