Summary[edit]
DescriptionOuterAndInnerSolarSystem.PNG |
English: Solar-system planet aphelion (outermost) and perihelion (innermost) orbit-radius bands, with Sol a black dot at the center, projected onto the plane of the ecliptic. The inner solar system is magnified on the right for a closer look. On the left with a field-width of ≈ 60[AU], the outer ring is Neptune (indigo) near 30[AU], the next (and widest) annular-band is Uranus (blue) at about 19[AU], then Saturn (turquoise) at 9.5[AU], and Jupiter (cyan) at 5.2[AU]. Pluto and other dwarf planets are not included in part because of their large orbital eccentricities (including occasional overlaps with the orbit of Neptune). |
