Description
This is one of a pair of paintings made as a wedding gift to Adelaide ("Adela") Søltoft (1852-1933), and Nicolaj Tillisch (1844-1917). She was the daughter of the owner of Tyrrestrup, Ole Johan Søltoft (1807-1878) and Tillisch was in charge of the daily business as "forpagter" of Tyrrestrup. They married on May 24, 1876 and the inscription of this was provided on the verso by their daughter, Elisabeth Tillisch (born 1886), years later. The lot contained both paintings.
