Summary[edit]

Description
English: The purpose of an organisation is to create value for its owners or shareholders, in whatever way they construe value. This invariably involves a proposition of value to customers, and the meeting of other stakeholder needs. However organisations also have negative effects on society and the natural environment. Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is an attempt by organisations to voluntary self-regulate their social responsibilities back into their business. The organisation seeks to reduce the negative social and environmental consequences that arise from business activities. It also seeks to be honest with its customers. This view includes the main themes from the Three Pillars of Sustainability, with the addition of the customer and quality focus.
