Organ cactus in central Mexico, ca.1900-1920
Photograph of a lot of organ cactus (so named for their resemblance to organ pipes) in a field in central Mexico, ca.1900-1920. The pitaya nopales (ripened fruit, or tuna, and stem segments) are edible. Eight people (men and children) lounge about the cacti. One man is carrying clay jars.
