English: The photo was taken at the excavated "Villa Poppea" in Oplontis, the modern Torre Annunziata near Naples in Campania, Italy.


It shows the imprint of a row of doors in the solidified ashes, lava and mud mixture that buried the villa after the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD.
