Summary
[edit]DescriptionOmnidirectional antenna - horizontal and vertical radiation patterns.png |
English: Diagram showing the horizontal and vertical polar radiation patterns of an omnidirectional antenna. The specific antenna is a half-wave dipole. On each graph the distance from the origin represents power density in watts per square meter in that direction. As shown, an omnidirectional antenna radiates equal radio power in all azimuthal directions perpendicular to the antenna's axis. So the horizontal pattern is just a circle. However the radiated power varies with elevation angle, in this case it is maximum in horizontal directions and decreases monotonically to zero on the axis, as shown by the vertical polar pattern. |
