Description
English: On December 19, 2010, a subtropical storm was near peak intensity and close to the International Date Line, sporting a distinct eye-like feature resembling a typhoon.

This infrared image was taken by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA’s Terra satellite at 10:20 UTC on December 19, 2010.

The system continued acquiring tropical characteristics. On December 20, 2010, it arrived at the Central North Pacific Ocean and ultimately became Tropical Storm Omeka.
