Summary[edit]

Description
English: Olympic and Homeric reunited for the last time in September, 1937 at the Thos. W. Ward shipbreaking yard in Inverkeithing, Scotland.

Olympic, visible in the background, was sold for scrap in 1935 and her dismantling began in Jarrow, South Tyneside, but after 2 years she departed Jarrow on September 19th, 1937 for her final demolition in Inverkeithing. By that point she was no more than a floating hulk and made the voyage under tow, arriving in Inverkeithing 2 days later on September 21st. Upon arrival she was greeted by her former running mate Homeric, also in the late stages of demolition by that point, having been sold for scrap in 1936.

Their other running mate, Majestic, would also be scrapped in the exact same place in the 1940s, though both Olympic and Homeric were long gone by then. See less
