"Hastings and Main - 1918/2010

Much of what you see here is still there from the top photo, but some of the buildings are a little (or a lot) worse for wear. The building on the very left is the Carnegie Centre, which used to be Vancouver's main library until the new one was built in the 1950s at Robson and Burrard. It sat vacant for a couple of decades until it was restored in the 1970s and made into a community centre for the Downtown Eastside. It's probably due for another restoration soon though.

Many new buildings have sprung up in the background where many old buildings have been lost, unlike this area.

And here's some more streetcars and also notice the large awnings in the right side of the photo at the retail level.
