At each end thebone is perforated withthree holes bored from thepolished side of the bone.The m a r r o w cavity isgreatly enlarged through-out the entire length, and atthe larger end the bone iscut very thin, consequentlymaking that portion of theornament very fragile. OBJECTS OF MICA. Blocks of mica and vari-ous figures and objects cutfrom the detached thinsheets were found in manygraves as well as every partof the mound. Explorations of the Edwin Harness Mound. 173 in various designs were found. The largest design is shown inFig. 55. The specimen is ten inches in length and three incheswide, and is cut from one sheet of mica in the form of a spearpoint. The diamond shaped base is very unusual, and is per-haps a fancy form for decoration. The point of this spear waslost in removing the specimen from the grave.
