Summary[edit]

Description
English: Visitors to the Pioneer Museum in Cloyne will notice a portion of this schoolhouse erected inside. This photo is the school as it once stood around 1948 on the O' Donnell Road, known originally as the River Road.

In front of the building are Monica (Lessard) Perry and her brother Douglas, with family friends. The building rang with the sounds of a school from the 1840s until 1941, when the local population declined and any remaining children were sent to school in Flinton. Later, it was used as a garage for a time, and then sat empty for many years, gradually decaying, until the Historical Society rescued the part still standing and re-erected it in the museum. Salvaging of the remnants of the school house due to the unflagging efforts of Lloyd Schneider, a local cottager.
