Genre dhypéricinées,comprenant des arbustes à feuilles entières, à fleurs pe-tites réunies en grappe terminale. (Le fruit est un drupe.Originaire do Madagascar.) HarOUDJ, chaîne de montagnes de lAfrique du Nord,qui sétend entre la Tripolitaine et le plateau du Fezzan.Elle comprend deux massifs : à lO., le Djebel Soda ouMontagne-Noire; à TE., le Haroudj proprement dit. Lunet lautre sont de formation volcanique et sélèvent au-dessus dun plateau calcaire : le premier, dune altitudemoyenne de 750 m. ; le second, dune altitude moyenne de600 m. Ce nom de Montagne-Noire (Mons Niger des an-ciens) sexplique par la coloration des roches volcaniques,moitié rouges, moitié noires. HARNAIS
