No. 96 SIR JOSHUA REYNOLDS, P.R.A. 1723—1792STUDY OF A CUPID The study shows a life-sized cupid reclining, with wings out-spread, upon his left elbow, his back turned towards the spec-tator and only the right side of his face in view. In his righthand he holds his bow, and his quiver, suspended from hisshoulder by a blue ribbon, can be seen beneath his left arm.The lower part of his body is covered by a green mantle. Thebackground is a tone of golden yellow, deepening into darkbrown in the shadows. Height, 28 inches; length, 36 inches.
