Description

Item 8774, Engineering Department Photographic Negatives (Record Series 2613-07), Seattle Municipal Archives. Seattle Municipal Archives changed its URL scheme circa 2022; the older URLs beginning with "clerk" are deprecated, and will eventually fail. The following search should find item number 8774 in their new database: http://archives.seattle.gov/digital-collections/index.php/Search/objects/search/num%253A8774+AND+ca_objects.type_id%253A23 .

English: Railroad Avenue, Seattle, Washington, U.S., 1934, shortly before the seawall was built and Railroad Avenue became Alaskan Way. Pier 14 at left is the present-day Pier 70; the pier shed shown here has been completely replaced, and the new one looks quite different. The area at right is now part of the Olympic Sculpture Park. Magnolia neighborhood in the background, across Elliott Bay.
