Summary[edit]

Description

This is a westbound Norfolk Southern Railway container train at Horseshoe Curve, Pennsylvania in the late morning on 10 May 2016. The second-leading unit is NS # 6791, a General Motors Electro-Motive Division SD60M. This engine was built in April 1993 and saw service in blue-and-white paint as Conrail # 5550. After CSX and Norfolk Southern acquired Conrail, the unit became NS # 6791.

The rocks in the Horseshoe Curve railroad cut (Kittanning Point; Kittanning Mountain) are fluvial sandstones of the Rockwell Formation (Famennian Stage to Kinderhookian Stage, upper Upper Devonian to lower Lower Mississippian).
