Huitain :

De la lyre d’Orphée, aimable légataire,
Il l’a ravit aux Cieux pour enchanter la Terre.
Fidèle aux lois du goût, fidèle aux lois du chant,
On le vit toujours vrai, simple, noble ou touchant.
Enfin après trente ans d’une gloire assurée
Il remonte en vainqueur au séjour éternel.
Ses amis, l’oeil fixé sur la voûte étherée,
L’appellent... vain espoir!… Ce n’est plus un mortel...

Le premier vers du huitain renvoie probablement à l’appartenance de Dalayrac à la loge maçonnique Les Neuf Soeurs
