Kính gửi ngài Tổng lý Ngự tiền Văn phòng, Huế.

Thưa ngài, tôi kính nhờ ngài vui lòng tâu lên Đức Kim thượng xin phê chuẩn cho một đề nghị là truy tặng Long tinh của Nam triều cho ông Louis Fontan là Chánh cai đội hạng nhất của ngạch lính Khố xanh, vừa tạ thế vào ngày hôm nay tại Nhà thương lớn ở Huế sau khi bị bệnh sốt "typhus" mà ông đã nhiễm phải trong thời gian công tác ở đảo Hoàng Sa.

Trong trường hợp lời đề nghị này được chấp nhận, tôi sẽ rất biết ơn ngài nếu ngài gửi thật gấp bằng khen và huy chương ấy cho tôi qua trương mục ngân sách địa phương. Ký tên: Graffeuil. Sao y nguyên bản, Thương tá Ngự tiền Văn phòng - [Ký tên: Trần Đình Tùng].
