Summary[edit]
DescriptionNewman Village ribbon cutting (7186074641).jpg | WIESBADEN, Germany -- Military and civilian leaders representing several agencies associated with the new Newman Village housing area here cut the ribbon officially opening the housing area during a ceremony here, June 14. The housing area on the newly named Clay Kaserne takes its name from the late Col. James R. Newman, who as military administrator for Hesse in the 1940s, worked vigorously to assist in rebuilding the German government and economy. The ribbon-cutting group includes (left to right) Herr Thomas Platte, director, Hessian Construction Managment; Col. Peter D. Helmlinger, commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Europe District; Dr. Helmut Mueller, Lord Mayor of Wiesbaden; Kathleen Marin, director of the U.S. Army Installation Management Command-Europe; Col. David Carstens, commander of U.S. Army Garrison Wiesbaden; Jens Locker, Hermans EHT-BAU; and Frank Obladen, Ed. Zublin AG.(Photo by Richard Bumgardner) |
