In terms of transmitters, the colored solid lines indicate target regions with scientific reports for hierarchy (Grant et al., 1998; Morgan et al., 2002; Brezillon et al., 2003; Timmer et al., 2011). The colored broken lines indicate possible regions that these transmitters could have effects (Passchier et al., 2000; Landgraf and Neumann, 2004; Hurd and Hall, 2005), but no scientific report in terms of social dominance and hierarchy.
