Nederlands: Detail van een opengewerkte pijler van het smeedijzeren toegangshek van de begraafplaats aan het Zuideinde 22 in Aarlanderveen (gemeente Alphen aan den Rijn, Prov. Zuid-Holland). Het hek uit 1875 is vervaardigd door de firma L.J. Enthoven en Co te Den Haag en de Alphense smid Velthuijsen en heeft zilver gekleurde decoraties van gietijzer. De hekken zijn bevestigd tussen twee ijzeren pijlers met ornamenten. In deze opengewerkte pijlers zijn gietijzeren ornamenten met een symbolische betekenis aangebracht, waaronder gekruiste zeisen (attribuut van de dood als grote maaier), een gevleugelde zandloper (vergankelijkheid) en bovenop de pijlers een doodshoofd op gekruiste beenderen (ijdelheid, kortstondigheid van het leven). Het hek is van algemeen belang vanwege de cultuurhistorische waarde (wegens de grafsymboliek) en vanwege de architectuurhistorische waarde (wegens de rijke detaillering). In stedenbouwkundig opzicht is het hek van belang als markering van de toegang tot de begraafplaats en vanwege de functionele en ruimtelijke samenhang met de aanleg, beplanting, baarhuisje en lijkenhuisje (die niet zichtbaar zijn op de foto).
