Summary[edit]
DescriptionNef and Vpu protein interaction sites with the anti-viral tetherin protein.png |
English: Nef and Vpu are viral proteins, from SIV and HIV respectively, that work to deactivate the anti-viral tetherin protein. Nef interacts with the cytoplasmic domain due to the presence of the additional 33 amino acids found in primates present in the cytoplasmic domain. This however is missing in human tetherin and so HIV instead uses Vpu to deactivate tetherin which interacts with the conserved transmembrane domain. |
